I found this while looking for something specific, then spent an hour just clicking through foreign TV channels instead of doing what I originally sat down to do. It does that.
TV Explorer is a single-page web app that pulls from the iptv-org/iptv open-source database, giving you a searchable grid of 10,000+ live channels sorted by country, language, and category. No account, no app install, no ads.
The channel selection is absurd. 10,000+ channels from dozens of countries across news, sports, movies, music, kids, documentaries, and more. I watched a Bulgarian news broadcast, then a Korean music show, then some kind of German shopping channel where a man was enthusiastically selling kitchen knives. It is a genuinely weird and wonderful way to spend 20 minutes.
No signup or tracking. Open the site, pick a channel, it plays. That is the whole flow. No email, no cookie banner, no “create a free account to continue watching.” The site is built on the Watson Engine by David Bethune, and the privacy posture is refreshing. It does not collect, store, or share anything about you or what you watch.
The filters actually work well. Three dropdowns (Category, Country, Language), combine together cleanly. Want Thai-language sports channels? French news? Indonesian music TV? Each filter narrows instantly with no page reload. There is also a live search field that filters by channel name as you type.
Status lights save time. Each channel has a gray/green/red indicator: gray means untuned, green means it played successfully, red means it failed. Not all channels are 24/7, so a red light does not necessarily mean the channel is gone forever. But the green ones reliably work, which is the main thing you need to know.
Multiview mode is fun. Click the TV icon on any channel row to add it to a multiview layout. Three or more channels show a large featured player plus a strip of smaller thumbnails. It is genuinely useful for monitoring multiple news feeds or just feeling like you are in a spy movie.
What to know
The channels are free-to-air streams made publicly available by broadcasters. Some are geographically restricted. A US news channel might not play from Europe, and vice versa. This is not the site’s doing; it is the broadcaster’s region locking. If a channel does not load, that is usually why.
The database comes from a community-maintained GitHub project, so channel availability changes over time. Green channels today might go dark next month. That is the nature of free IPTV.
Worth your time if
You want to browse international TV without signing up for anything, or you need a quick way to monitor live news from multiple countries at once.
